Kanpla's network requirements

General network recommendations

In general, you can utilize both Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections for your POS devices and terminals. However, we strongly recommend using Ethernet as it provides a far more stable and reliable solution for both the POS system and payment terminals. A wired connection helps minimize the risk of network interruptions, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted transactions.

Ethernet requirements

To connect your POS devices via Ethernet, ensure your access point meets the following requirements:

  • Megabit Ethernet (or higher)

  • Proper cables to match Ethernet speed (Category 5 or higher)

Wi-Fi requirements

To connect your POS devices via Wi-Fi, ensure your access point meets the following requirements:

  • 802.11ac (Wi-fi 5)

  • Supports WPA/WPA2-Enterprise or WPA/WPA2-Personal encryption

  • Operates on 2.4GHz or 5GHz (preferred) frequencies

Please note that when the terminal or POS device shows it’s connected to your Ethernet, it doesn’t always guarantee an internet connection, as there may still be issues between your network and the internet

Allowlisting for restricted networks

If your network restricts outbound traffic, share this section with your IT team. They need to allow the domains and ports below. Start with the section everyone needs, then add the sections for the products you use:

  • Everyone using Kanpla → Kanpla admin, app and POS

  • Card payments with Adyen terminals → Adyen payment terminals

  • Card payments with FreedomPay terminals → FreedomPay payment terminals

  • Kanpla Signage screens → Kanpla Signage

  • Elo devices managed through EloView → EloView

Kanpla admin, app and POS

Ports

  • tcp/443 to the internet

  • tcp/8443 on your Ethernet

Kanpla domains

Login (Firebase) domains

identitytoolkit.googleapis.com
securetoken.googleapis.com

FreedomPay payment terminals

Only needed if you take card payments with FreedomPay terminals.

Port

  • tcp/443 outbound

Domains

IP ranges (if your firewall allowlists by IP address)

64.74.156.0/24
52.177.83.208/28

Kanpla Signage

Only needed if you use Kanpla Signage screens. All connections are outbound.

Required domains and ports

  • hub.dsbackend.com (tcp/443)

  • repo.dsbackend.com (tcp/80). Plain HTTP is used here because the software packages are digitally signed.

  • dsbackend.s3.amazonaws.com (tcp/443)

  • assets.dsbackend.com (tcp/443)

  • packages.dsbackend.com (tcp/443)

Optional domains and ports

  • remote.dsbackend.com (tcp/1194). Used for advanced remote troubleshooting.

  • widgets.dsbackend.com (tcp/443). Used for live data in some screen apps, such as weather.

IP addresses (if your firewall allowlists by IP address)

At least allow 108.128.247.33 and 52.210.76.69. Several of the domains above are served by AWS and resolve to many IP addresses, so allowlisting by domain is recommended.
