To take card payments using your Adyen terminal, it must be connected to the internet. You can do this in two ways: either by connecting it to your Wi-Fi network or by using a cable connection (Ethernet).
Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions for both options.
Option 1: Connect to Wi-Fi
Step 1: On the terminal, press 9, then press the green button to open the settings menu
Step 2: On the screen, select “Configure network”
Step 3: Enter the PIN code: 7705
Step 4: Switch Wi-Fi on by using the toggle
Step 5: Tap the “+” icon to find your Wi-Fi
The terminal will now search for available networks.
Step 6: Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list
Or, if it doesn’t show up, tap “Add manually” and enter your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
Step 7: Enter your Wi-Fi password, then press the check mark (✔) to confirm
Step 8: The terminal sets the network as default automatically, and connects to it.
You'll now see a Wi-Fi icon at the top of the display if connected correctly.
Option 2: Connect with a Cable (Ethernet)
This method is ideal if your terminal is placed near your router or network switch.
Step 1: Connect the small dongle (adapter) to your terminal
Step 2: Take an Ethernet cable that is already connected to your internet router or network switch
Step 3: Plug the Ethernet cable into the port labeled “ETH” on the dongle
This is the port specifically made for wired internet connections.
Step 4: Please check the connection at your device by selecting the device settings
As soon as the cable is connected, the terminal should automatically detect the connection and go online - no additional setup is required. You may see a network icon on the screen, confirming that the terminal is now connected and ready to process payments.
Note: If the terminal doesn’t connect right away, try restarting it or checking that the router is working and the cable is securely plugged in on both ends.
Test the connection
Once your terminal is connected to the internet, it’s important to test if it’s successfully communicating with the Adyen payments platform (where all transactions are processed)
Step 1: On your terminal, go to Settings by pressing 9 and then the green button to open the settings menu
Step 2: Select Diagnostics
Step 3: Enter the PIN code: 7705
Step 4: Tap PSP connection
✅ If the Status shows “Successful”, your terminal is properly connected and ready to accept payments.
⚠️ If the Status says “Failure”, the terminal is not connected to the Adyen platform. Double-check your internet connection and try again.
