How do I generate a total sales report for a given period and sort the data by product or other criteria? (5 minute read)

Updated over 4 months ago

With Sales Overview (Beta), you can create detailed sales reports and sort data based on various criteria such as product, period, or location. Follow this guide to make the most of the tool.

Step 1: Customize Your Data Overview with Filters

To ensure the data is relevant to your needs, you can use the following filters:

  • Time Period:

    • Use the Data Filter to select the specific period you want to analyze, such as a month or a week.

  • Point of Sale:

    • Under Location, select the location where the sales occurred.

  • Modules:

    • Choose one or more modules to narrow down the data displayed

Once the filters are applied, the dashboard will present a tailored overview with various graphs and tables. You can refine your analysis further based on the desired criteria.

Step 2: Visualise and Deepen Your Sales Data

The first graph on the dashboard provides a total sales overview, including VAT, for the selected period. For a more detailed view, you can:

  • Zoom into specific days or periods: Click on the graph and drag your mouse to highlight the desired timeframe.

  • Dynamic updates: When you zoom in, the data in other graphs on the dashboard will automatically update to reflect the selected period.

This allows you to quickly identify trends and focus on specific data points.

Step 3: Locate and Sort Data by Product or Criteria

  • Navigate to the Top Products & Categories section.

  • Select the Top-Selling Products chart, which displays a list of the most sold products during the chosen period.

  • For further sorting, select specific products or categories and apply filters to isolate the desired data.

Step 4: Download Your Sales Report

Once you have identified the desired data, you can download the report:

  • Hover over the relevant chart or table.

  • Click the download icon in the top-right corner.

  • Choose your preferred file format:

    • CSV File: Suitable for spreadsheet analysis using tools like Google Sheets or Excel.

    • Excel File: Ideal for advanced data processing and formatting.

    • PNG Image: Perfect for presentations or visual reports.

Save the file to your computer for further analysis or sharing.

Example

If you want a sales report for a specific sandwich in one canteen:

  1. Select the canteen as the Point of Sale and choose the period (e.g., a month).

  2. Under Top-Selling Products, locate the sandwich in the list.

  3. Download the report as a CSV or Excel file for detailed analysis.

This process makes it easy and efficient to generate an accurate report for a specific period and sort the data by product or other criteria. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact the support team
